The 9th October is the World Post Day. It is a day to celebrate the role of postal services in connecting people and businesses around the world, and to appreciate the hard work and dedication of postal workers everywhere.
World Post Day was established in 1969 by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the international organization that coordinates and regulates postal services among its 192 member countries. The date marks the anniversary of the UPU’s foundation in 1874 in Bern, Switzerland.
The UPU encourages its member countries to organize various activities and events to mark World Post Day, such as issuing stamps, holding exhibitions, organizing workshops, and awarding prizes. One of the most popular events is the UPU International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People, which aims to promote literacy and creativity among children through the art of letter writing.

Despite the ever increasing digitalisation, the Hungarian post is still an important actor in Hungary and delivers more than 600 million letters and 36 million parcels every year.
