A suspicious little car
On 6 December, when the Christmas market in Luxembourg city is still quiet, one small car steals the show. A bright red Microlino sits alone, parked right in the centre. No other cars around. Just this tiny bubble of wheels and cheer. Suspicious? Absolutely.
Santa’s new ride
It cannot be anyone else but Santa. Forget the sleigh and the reindeer. Times have changed. Parking a sleigh in the city centre is not exactly practical. So Santa has gone electric. The Microlino is small, red and quirky enough to fit the job. It even looks like a toy car, which makes it perfect for someone who delivers toys for a living.
Presents on board
One can only imagine the boot stuffed with gifts. True, the Microlino does not have much space. But Santa has always been good at logistics. If he can fit a year’s worth of presents into one sleigh, he can surely manage a few sacks in a microcar. Perhaps the elves have upgraded their packing skills too.
A quiet market
The scene is even more amusing because the market is still asleep. Stalls are closed, lights are dim, and the smell of mulled wine has not yet filled the air. Yet there sits the little red car, waiting. It is as if Santa arrived early to beat the crowds and grab a parking spot before anyone else. Clever move.
Free parking before 8am
Of course Santa knows the rules. Parking in Luxembourg city is free before 8am. No ticket needed, no fines to worry about. The Microlino is parked perfectly legally. Santa may be generous, but he is not foolish enough to pay for parking when he does not have to. Christmas in Luxembourg has officially gone electric.
