Recently, I decided to go for a weekend swim at the Nordpool of Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg, a beautiful aquatic centre with sports and leisure areas. As I approached the entrance, I was greeted by a very unusual sight: a woman with a large and colourful Macaw Parrot siting quietly on her hand.
I was curious about this exotic bird, so I started a conversation with the woman. She told me that the parrot was her pet, and that she liked to take him out for a walk when the weather was nice.
She said that the parrot was very smart and obedient, and that he could even mimic some words and sounds. However, she also warned me not to touch him, because he could bite hard with his powerful beak.
I learned that the parrot was a Blue-and-yellow Macaw, one of the 18 species of macaws that are native to tropical North and South America. These parrots are known for their long tails, bright feathers, and large beaks.
I was amazed by the beauty and intelligence of the macaw, and I thanked the woman for sharing her story with me. I also took some photos of the bird and I was impressed by how he posed for the camera.
I continued my visit to the Nordpool, and I had a great time swimming and relaxing. But the highlight of my day was meeting the macaw and his owner. It was a colorful encounter.
