The Bock is a promontory in the Luxembourg City’s old historical district. Since the 10th century, it has been offering a natural fortification to the city and made it impossible to conquer the Fortress of Luxembourg over many centuries.
The Treaty of London (signed in 1867) called for the demolition of the fortifications. Ruins of the old castle and the vast underground system of passages and galleries (the casemates) continue to be a major tourist attraction of the country.
History of Luxembourg and touristic attraction is my photo of the day.
