The Strasbourg Cathedral is one of the most surprising buildings of the city with its single tower. There is a lot of speculation why the second tower is missing. The most credible explanation is the missing financing. It was built over a period of 424 years and held the record of the tallest building for a total of 227 years between 1647 and 1874.
